Looking for some good books on acrylic painting that you can refer to and work on your skills?
Going to the library is not passe. I do so every now and then; I can tell you that great art books are timeless. Librarians are such great and underrated people whenever I make a trip to look for a good resource for art related guidance. And not all of the books are musty and old too some of them are quite up to date.
So getting back to books on working in acrylics. I can give you the benefit of my experience on here, but when you have a physical resource in print with beautiful colors and photos you now have a way to really level up. I know Kindle books are great, but having an actual hard copy of something you can refer to over and over, is gravy.
Starting with these…if you’re like me and a hardcore purist, having resources on the classical approach is a good idea. Learn the basics of classical still lifes, landscapes and the likes with this approach. Blending paints, colors, and some techniques that can help you to up your game a little. Whatever stage you are at in your journey, there will be something new you can glean.

Starting small is a good way to go. I was in a group once and one woman’s specialty was small paintings that were (usually) 8 x 10 or smaller, and she always managed to sell a lot of them. Micro painting is a lot of fun and when you have a certain number of them you could arrange them in your space creatively! Not to mention you could also paint on substrates like ceramic tiles. So this is one I would have a look at, you could do little paintings like this every day and build up your skills quite well.

Fluid art more your jam? I would take a look at one of these. I know you can learn a lot form video tutorials but now you can have a guidebook that tells you everything you need to know that you can pick up and refer to. I’d grab that one by Rick Cheadle if you can. I have one of his books and I’ll let you know, he is the real deal.
In addition to paint pours, he is a mixed media artist and teaches classes too. I started following his work on Instagram and I have to tell you it is really impressive! There are others besides this one to have a glimpse of too.
