Crafts with glass coke bottles are fun; and the timeless bottle is a legendary household name, what’s not to love? I sometimes like to pick up a six pack of Diet Coke in the old fashioned glass bottles that resemble that of the long-ago era (Yes, believe it or not you can still get those…) Then you guessed it, I keep those suckers after I rinse them out and let dry.Now what to do with all of them.
So for all you Coke bottle collectors -vintage and otherwise-out there, here are a handful of cool ways to upcycle them into practical and fun crafts!

Coke Bottle Luminaries
You can make some beautiful luminaries with your coke bottle stash just with a few simple tools -one of them is a light kit with a light stopper. Have you seen these, they have pretty midget lights and are made to go into the bottle through the narrow neck easily and the stopper on top has a switch you can turn on and off…talk about simple and sweet!
I discuss using them as a shortcut in my wine bottle lights tutorial if you’re uncomfortable with the idea of drilling a hole into the side as another good route to take. Make about 5-10 of these and they would be awesome for social gatherings and parties, line them up the driveway, set them on tables, arrange them in the patio area – beautiful!
Want to get really vintage? For all you survivalists or homesteaders out there, or just those of you drawn to the ways of old, here’s an oil lamp made right out of one of these beauties below-follow the link to find out how he did it; it’s surprisingly easy;believe it or not, he used olive oil for this 😊

Hummingbird Feeders
The classics never go out of style, and a glass soda bottle is perfect to make a classy looking feeder to treat your feathered hummer visitors. I did this a few summers ago and while I enjoyed the project I think a glass bottle works much better with a tube stopper rather than a round wide base as plastic bottles have “threads” at the top that align better with the base.
You can get a few hummingbird feeder stoppers like these and the bottle can be made to hang up outside easily with a hanger constructed from flexible aluminum wire. Don’t forget to thread some pretty beads in bright colors like red and pink because that kind of colors attract hummers the best.
Soap Dispenser
A nice small 8 oz bottle is perfect for this – just the right size to hold liquid soap for your bathroom sink area. You can get the hand soap pumps here – I have checked them out to be sure they will align correctly with the neck of the bottle. A nice vintage-y way to dress up your bathroom or kitchen!
Vases
This one needs no introduction – dontcha think? For a small bouquet-or better yet, multiple ones in a row. If you have some really old Coke bottles, they may already have that pretty light green tint that the modern ones don’t (something I’ve observed) If you’d like to tint your coke bottle the best way to do it is to use the “drip” method by pouring enamel paint inside and rolling the bottle around to distribute it evenly.

You could also paint the outside too, like this one above- if you want, for a particular holiday or season, like Christmas, make them red, or pastel colors for spring. Consider adding a little glitter to the paint because that will really jazz them up!
Wall Sconces
I haven’t had a wall sconce in a while, but I like the look of them and there are so many cool ways to make these with reclaimed small mason jars or similar, and soda bottles would also be great for this. You’d also need a wood plaque for this, two since they are usually in sets of 2.
You could install a bracket to go around the bottle to hold them down or use wire to make them look like they are hanging from each plaque. Lovely dont you think? Use the midget fairy lights with the stopper from the first project idea and you’ve got yourself a pair of rustic scones that will show your visitors you have good taste and are a great DIY-er.
Well now you have some great ideas for turning those oldies but goodies coke bottles into works of art – if you have any more you’d like to add let me know.
