Creative Market Review: This Designer’s Perspective
Hey guys…are you looking for a platform from which you can find ready-made graphics, photos, and web elements at your fingertips for all of your online (or offline) endeavors? You can not only find dozens of graphics to fit your needs but you can also sell your designs on there too!
What is Creative Market?
If you are already familiar with Etsy, I won’t have to paint a vivid picture too much here. The place is laid out a lot like them…except that the marketplace is geared to products that you can download for personal and commercial use with regard to projects including website design, advertising, announcements, and many other plans.
The product range includes graphics, photographs, templates, fonts and yes premium website themes, and pretty much all of the major systems like WordPress or Joomla are supported.
Also, like Etsy, you have opportunities to open a shop of your own. If you are a graphic designer, photographer, web designer, or a combination therof, this could be a great avenue to start selling your products.
How Does It Work?
To find something in particular you first have to look for the category that it’s in and enter the keywords that fit best…For example “fall leaf scene vector” I have to niche it down a little as general terms often return tons of listings to comb through.
As for me , I found out about this marketplace from a sole marketer who was recommending design bundles to be used for custom made tshirts. So naturally I followed the advice, not wanting to spend hours on tshirt designs from scratch.
What Did I Shop For?
The product in question I got was the Ultimate Icon Bundle. There is everything and the kitchen sink in there! And at a great price too. You have several different payment options, including Paypal, credits, etc. After the transaction you will be taken to a download access link and the respective item(s) will be received in a zip file.
There were several other icon bundle selections I got later on. You can find line drawn icons and those with color in them, and they include most common file formats too.

Product Licenses and How They Work
When you find something you like and want to purchase you’ll see the Buy Now option to the right, and the words “Standard License” and “Extended License”. I was taught that if I am selecting the Standard License, that I can use each icon from the bundle only one time per item since I am selling them on Etsy.
If I wanted to use them repeatedly I would have to purchase the Extended License. What I said just there applies to use of the different graphic products with commercial intent. If you were just going to use them for greeting cards to give to your friends and family, I don’t suppose it matters how many times you use them.
There’s all kinds of terms and conditions that apply to various product categories regarding how many times you can use an image, and in what capacity with altering it or adding to it. It’s quite in-depth and comprehensive so if you are ever in any doubt head on over to Creative Market’s Help Center and navigate to “Licenses”.
It’s broken down into the different product categories, so don’t hesitate to educate yourself before doing anything that could be crossing the legal line.
Opportunity To Get Free Goodies!
One really cool thing is that if you spend X amount on anything from Creative Market, you become entitled to receive 6 “freebies” weekly. In any case the icon bundle was enough because I get notifications about the freebies of the week. They are hand-selected; you can pretty much take them or leave them; entirely up to you. You can’t beat “free” right?
Yes! As a buyer, I would. Having not attempted to sell anything there, I wouldn’t be a good source of info on that one. If I do come across any sellers happy to tell their story, I will post an update here.
So this is the place to go if you are looking for downloadable elements of all types and want to save time.
