This Christmas season is different than ever before. Now that many families are spending their holiday season at home, it’s more important than ever to make sure families still feel like they have a normal Christmas in these abnormal times. One way we’re planning to have a fun, safe Christmas this year is by doing fun activities together with family. Whether you’re making creative Christmas cookies or playing DIY Christmas games, you can have a blast spending quality time together with the whole family.
From Christmas Charades to Christmas Mayhem, keep reading for some fun Christmas game ideas you can make with items you already have at home!
Fill the Stockings
This Christmas game divides the players into groups, and each of them is given a sock or stocking, which is placed at the other end of the room. What the participants of each team have to do is fill the sock with candies — but they have to do so using a spoon to carry them across the room. The first to fill the stocking will be the winners!
To play Christmas Charades, print out the printables and divide your players into teams. The first player will select a holiday-themed prompt and silently act it out. Then, everyone tries to guess what the person is doing and whoever guesses first wins a point for their team. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins!
Christmas Family Feud
Watching Family Feud is a fun and classic way to spend time together. Put a fun holiday spin on it with your own DIY family feud, complete with questions sourced from your own family. Come up with questions and ask each family member to write down the answers individually ahead of time. Rank the most common answers and write them on a poster board, covering the answers.
Whether you play on Zoom or in person, Christmas family feud is a blast! Have the host ask a question then give each family five seconds to answer the question. See who can get the most questions right in the end!
Christmas Mayhem is a fun and unique Christmas game that’s perfect for families that love to let loose and laugh together. To play, use these free printables and cut them up into cards. Have a player select one card from each pile and choose a helper to assist with the scene. The players act out their scene, and at the end, everyone votes for their favorite! Whether you’re Jack Frost interviewing the Grinch or Buddy the Elf at the sleigh DMV, you’ll definitely have a blast playing Christmas Mayhem with loved ones.
Although this year is a social-distanced Christmas, that shouldn’t stop you from having a memorable holiday season with your loved ones. Many of these games can also be played via Zoom, so you can be safe in the comfort of your own home while spending quality time with family.
