As the summer is right around the corner, it’s the perfect time of year to start planning trips and figuring out new spots you and your family want to check out. The sun starts shinning and you’re ready to hit the road. Whether that may mean heading to a beach location, or heading for the mountains, the majority of us get the travel bug.
Given the circumstances, our summer could be bright, or filled with ultimate staycations — but don’t fret. Staying in your hometown can be just as fun as going on a weekend getaway. Pack your staycation time with all your favorite things. Ice cream, running outdoors, and checking out all your favorite meal spots. Even take it upon yourself to use this time to catch up on chores, work, or get ahead on organizing the house.
For families that are ready to have the best time without even leaving your hometown, Mint’s created five printables that will prepare your family for the best staycation.

Feeling Shut In? Maybe You Need a Staycation!
If this COVID-19 lockdown has got you down, you’re not alone! You’re probably feeling miffed….restless, frustrated, definitely stressed out- all of these are things that warrant a vacation, but the situation around us may have put the kibosh on our ability to come and go. It doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun, though!
So if you can’t leave your house (or leave as much as you’d like) now is your chance to turn downtime into adventure time – Lemons into lemonade, as they say.
Planning Your “Trip”
Just like one that may involve air travel or long distances, you will need to make some plans. Create an itinerary – what kind of activities do you and your friends or loved ones want to partake in? Do you want to spend a day painting, making fun stuff like candles, soap or bath bombs? Or maybe host your own version of the b and b experience?
These are the planner pages you can download and use to get organized and map out your plans. Get the whole family in on it, too – Work it out together, what will be the itinerary for the day? Day 2? and so forth?
The cooking end of things….what are you planning to serve? Take a different angle and try a cuisine from out of your usual routine.
Don’t forget the budgeting end of it too, how much you are willing to spend, decide on that and stick with it.
Decorate Your Home For the Occasion
You definitely want your own abode to match a vacation kind of mood, right? Don’t forget to ditch the electronic devices temporarily as a real vacation means taking a temporary reprieve from electronic distractions. The bathroom – you can make it look like a real spa with the addition of candles, attractive looking shower curtains, towels or you may even want to change the artwork to reflect that of the right kind of vacation theme.
What about the backyard, can you find ways to making it look like an inviting oasis? Things like a hammock if you have a way to hang one, and nice comfy chairs will make you think about R and R pretty easily. Hanging up some yard art like this would be great and add to the ambiance. Just imagine you were planning a backyard party and you’d have an idea of the right direction to go in.
Scrapbooking Your Staycation
Don’t forget, even though you are going to still be in your vicinity the mini-adventures you guys will have are great fodder for a new scrapbook! Memories are memories, no matter where you go. Be sure you take lots of pictures with your buds to include in your album, as well as these printable stickers.
So whether you want to plan a pamper day, candle -making session, or cooking, now you have some ideas to make it fun, make it budget friendly, and make memories too! Happy stay-cationing!
