💍Keep the Stress at Bay When Planning the Big Day!💍
Does the thought of managing your upcoming wedding have you to breaking out in hives? Take a deep breath and take a good look at this diy wedding planner binder tutorial instead! Creating a binder to hold all of the important preliminary steps is a great way to manage your affairs PLUS you’ll have a lovely keepsake to treasure one day.
I wish I had known about something like this back in the day? Planners of all kinds are a hot “must-have”, and your upcoming nuptials are one of the biggest milestone. If you are creatively inclined you will love doing this project and it will be a big help in smoothing out some of those rough bumps along the way.
Special credit and thanks go to Shutterfly for this amazing idea – You can also find the printable planners to use for your binder at the bottom of the article too!
First Things First: Choose Your Binder!
You should have a binder that speaks to you in some way….by its color or design, whatever is important and personal to you – I like those that have the little side clear pocket where you can insert a label for the subject on the side. Ideally, you need a binder with a certain thickness too, like an inch or inch and a half in thickness…Don’t go for the skinny ones!
If you’re shopping for a really nice wedding themed binder, I have found some really nice ones on Zazzle that match the occasion. This one on the left is a nice 1.5″ thickness, and you can personalize the details on the front, including your name, your intended, the wedding date, and if you want you can customize it to have a different headline other than “Wedding Planner”. In other words, get creative!
Also you ‘ll need some of those clear poly-view page protectors for all of your planner pages….I use these for practically everything. You can get a bunch for a good price at most office supply places.
As another option, you can also use a three-ring punch on the printable pages, too. Office supply stores carry these as well – but if you only have a one-hole puncher I would use the clear protectors.
Another thing is those divider pages that have tabs on the sides. These will be used to divvy up the sections of your wedding itinerary. These will be best for the main elements of it all, so you’ll probably want to categorize them first.
You can label them something like this:
- Engagement and Bridal Shower
- Guests and Attendants
- Decor and Floral Arrangements
Feel free to modify these to suit your own itinerary – but these are the main sub-sections (and their respective orders) of the planning events to drill down to.
All the planning activities should fit into one of these categories ,ideally start with the first ones (like the bridal shower or engagement party), and work your way down. Label each tab accordingly.
💍 Crafting the Inner Pages
The printable planning pages you can download will get to come into play here! This is what you will use to record all your plans – things that you will be spending the most time on include lists like
- Guests in attendance and participants in the wedding party – include their names and duties
- If you are registered somewhere, the in’s and out’s of it
- Clothing and attire; where will everybody be getting theirs from
- Decorations, flowers, specifics of each, etc.
Do you have magazines laying around? Consider going through them for inspiring ideas that you can cut out and include in your binder, such as pictures of dresses, honeymoon destinations, or floral arrangements. These should be arranged in the clear protective sheets.
Last but not least: Relax, and have fun! Don’t get so hung up on everything having to be perfect that you lose sight of what’s really important – spending the rest of your life with that special someone! Breathe deep…You’ve got this, and a happy wedding to you 💍
