Ten Really Awesome Drawing Gift Ideas You Wouldn’t have Thought Of!
Well guys, I did it! I scoured the web and my closet in my search for the best drawing gift ideas for the sketch artist in your life. She or he may not need any more pencils or pads of paper at the moment, (or may not be jumping up and down at the thought…)
Pin For Later? ✏️
So the key is to think with the angle of simple, thoughtful or unique. Well what was I drawn to when I made this list (Pun intended!) ?
A 3D Printer Pen is One of the Best Drawing Gifts!
An actual 3D printer may be a little extravagant…but this compact version, the 3D pen- is the next best thing and certain to be a hit with kids as well as adults.
This one includes 12 different color filament strands with which to turn ideas into amazing masterpieces.
It also includes a stand holder, power cable and even a coupon for a refill filament part on the house! This one makes the list for most unique and unexpected gifts.
Artist Glove, Anti Fouling Gloves for Drawing Tablet, Sketch, Left and Right Hand
Two Fingered Glove For Drawing
Every dedicated sketch artist, or graphic designer, needs a two fingered glove which conceal the pinky and ring finger while working, They help prevent smudges from charcoal pencils, and prevent unnecessary blotting.
If your medium of choice is a graphics tablet, you need one of these too, to keep your palm from sticking to the glass. Plus the natural oils from our skin – let’s face it, it doesn’t bode well with the glass surface of tablets as well as paper.
This one comes in different sizes and made to fit righties or lefties easily. It is made of nylon which will not catch on your work surface. The talented recipient in your life will come to appreciate this glove for certain. It also comes in multiple colors as well! So the lucky gift getter can change them to suit their mood.
Artistically Painted Mannequin Drawing Model – Coolest Gift EVER!
You know those drawing mannequins used for teaching purposes for mastering figure drawing that you can bend in different poses and all? I’ve got one too…and chances are, the person you are shopping for may as well…but I’ll bet they don’t have something like this!
This unique figure mannequin I discovered is that same basic model, all painted up in beautiful colors and patterns.
It can be set up on a dresser, bureau, or on the worktable to provide a spirit of fun and inspiration. This Etsy seller has several different kinds – Day of the Dead, black and white patterns, floral pattern, and I think two more. A unique and original work of art by an independent artisan that is sure to be treasured!
(Makes me want to go digging for my own mannequin so I can give it a makeover like this!)
Portable Tracing LED Light Box
I believe every person who draws professionally can benefit from a lightbox. Big, medium sized or small, it will l help you get accurate results. This one is nice and portable and operates via a USB cable so you can use it in the same way you’d use your tablet or other device. It has a work area of 9″ by 12″, and a touch switch on the side that controls the power. It’s slim, lightweight, and is bound to come in handy when traveling or on the move.
Challenge Your Drawing Game with This Book!
And now…out of all the gifts for sketch artists I have come across, THIS ONE stood out. This book is like no other from the instruction books I own, it will teach you to really stretch your creative limits with the many different thought-provoking exercises and activities (blank pages are included for your end.)
Go on a journey of self-discovery or encourage a friend to join…It’s so much fun! You will push the boundaries of what you thought was art as you carry out the exercises. Go ahead, I dare you 🙂 Who knows, you may learn things about yourself you didn’t know or things that will make you a better artist!
Now here is something a calligraphy artist can really appreciate…
Have you ever seen a glass dip pen? A must-have for writing and drawing, and a work of art, all in one, these beauties are made with nibs that distribute the ink and can hold a small amount before needing to refill.
Like this set I found above that is made with glitter and floral adornments…it includes a holder, glass dip dish and gift box. It’s made from borosilicate glass which is very strong and more resistant to shattering (but you still want to take good care of it.) You can choose from one of three colors – yellow, red or purple.
The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
This Book…Learn to Draw or Get Better at It
This is one of the best publications about drawing and it’s considered a “classic” in the artistic community. This version here I found is the new and extended – and it’s still as relevant as ever. As far as the concept goes, the “right side” of the brain is where we become more creative while our “left brain” is more logical and analytical.
You’ll be introduced to a variety of exercises all intended to “train” the right side of your brain while learning to draw and if you get a chance, there is also a workbook you can check out too that supplements the exercises. Whatever skill level you’re at, this is a must have book!
Make a Game Of It
Have you thought about some games as well? A couple of these below I used to play myself, Back in the 80s we had this trivia show called “Win, Lose or Draw” which was hilarious at best, you did not have to have talent! There was this dry erase board to draw on and the other players in the game had to guess what was being drawed.
Pictionary is another one that’s been around awhile too, this version has little dry erase boards and markers. There’s a little timer you have to get your idea down before all the sand empties.
A great idea for the next family night, whether you have talent or not, you can still have a lot of fun!
I saw this keyring with dangly charms representing various drawing tools and thought it was so cute! Each charm is fashioned into the likeness of a tool from silver toned zinc alloy.
Includes a triangle tool (I have one of those I use sometimes to create straight lines…) little house, round protractor and compass -also things I had once; though I needed them for math class LOL…and a cute pencil.
This makes a great gift for a drafting artist.
Four in One Stylus Pen
This elegant stylus pen is like having a bunch – Explore the many possibilities with your art and drawing apps as it is made to be universally compatible with iPad and Android devices ( I think there may be one or two exceptions you may want to check with…)
Included interchangeable attachments include a fiber tip, disc, brush tip and ink pen tip. All of the attachments store inside the pen for safekeeping. You also get an added bonus of a few extra fiber and pen tips. This beauty comes with a lifetime warranty and gift boxed. Lots of great ratings!
Well that’s my lineup….Which of these is YOUR favorite?
