Hey guys, I just want to say happy summer solstice, boy it’s a scorcher here. It was almost 100 degrees F one day last week…whew. Hope you are staying cool. I thought I’d take a break from my usual posting activities to bring you something a little different. I was doing a change-over in the living room the other day when I got this really good art project idea to share.
Have you ever heard of people taking ordinary garments – like tshirts – and transforming them into throw pillows, or pillow covers, I should add, provided you’ve got inserts already, or if you’ve just got a couple of throws you’ve gotten tired of lately and looking for a dirt-cheap (and fun!) way to make them over.
If you’re old enough to remember the “wearable art tshirt splatter paint craze” of the 90s, you may have had a blast doing just that, and perhaps you’ve been there done that and got the tshirt or shirts still, and wondered what to do with them?
Check these out , these were actually a Christmas gift, my mom painted these sweatshirts way back int eh day and turned them into toss pillows. How cool is this, I’ve never been a sweatshirt person so this is a great way to turn them into fun statement pieces. So talent does run in the family.
I”m thinking of doing something like this with this one tshirt that you can see here in this post. I think you have to cut off the sleeves first, and then stitch them down. You’d then proceed to stuff the insert in and then stitch down the bottom. Which may make it harder to remove, although if you could attach a zipper somehow you’d be set. I’m not that great at sewing, so we’ll see.
But anyway, it’s something fun. Hope you try it. Talk to you again soon!
