You May Have Noticed Some Changes…

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS AT NO EXTRA COST TO YOU.

changes aheadHello readers! If this is your first time visiting, welcome! I’m hoping that my site will provide a great resource for you on all things related to acrylic painting crafts and techniques. So if you’re interested in learning more about the best way to go about painting finished clay sculptures, whether or not you should use varnish, or how to mix colors, you’ve come to the right place. I hope that you will enjoy visiting.

If you are a regular reader you may have noticed this blog looking differently. That is because I have been restrucuring the niche – When I first started this site in 2016 I had too many ideas and lots of different topics, but I felt like I had been going in too many directions. Have you ever heard the saying “Jack of all trades, master of a few (or none)” I came to the conclusion, that was not the image I wanted to portray. I had posts about scrapbooking, posts about paper crafts, posts about decorating, posts about diy-ing cat stuff….just a real hodge podge. After 5 years my vision has changed and I no longer want to be spread out in so many directions. If you’ve ever heard of a site called the “Wayback Machine” you can see for yourself how all over the place I was.

I realize that this is neither here nor there, but if you have any interest in blogging, it is so, so, so important to focus on a small sub-niche. It will enable you to gain reader trust and authority much more easily.

John and I

For the second half of 2021 I kind of just took a break. I think I was suffering from burnout. I took on a series of gigs outside the home, worked on some new things, and in the fall I met someone special after being widowed for three years (can you say “life changing?”)

That’s a picture of us together I took. His name is John and if you see that name mentioned in any of my posts you’ll know who I’m referring to 🙂 Anyway, all of these things allowed me to re-think and re-gain perspective which is what I really needed to do. I realized that out of all the art niches I wanted to focus on the most, it was painting.

It was a hard decision to cull out a lot of posts that didn’t fit with my vision of this blog’s new direction, but in the end I feel that I made the right decision. Of course, there are always those few posts that it was hard to part with and that you guys seemed to find the most helpful.  In other words, I whittled it down to the “gems”.

Especially with a few reader comments like this one I screen-shot below…

The posts that are the most popular or got the highest level of reader engagement,  irrespective of topic, I have saved to the “Uncategorized” category. Thank you for your support!
